This was our first official winter market although a few of the postponed summer one’s could have been classed as wintery!
The event was held in the beautiful grounds of the Holker Hall Estate and, thankfully, as the forecast bad weather held off, it attracted a high volume of visitors…some of whom were old friends from the Furness area, so a lot of time was spent chatting and catching up.
Amongst the visitors were many good musicians who stopped by and played the guitars and lap-steels. But the greatest surprise was the number of people who weren’t musicians and/or guitarists who were willing to give it a go…and picked up how to play them really quickly!! Someone who had never played a lap-steel before (and I don’t think a guitar) bought a skateboard lap-steel with the intention of learning to play it via YouTube. She really was a fun person to be around, and I hope she is getting much enjoyment from the skateboard.
Finally, it wouldn’t be a winter market without Jack Frost and some reindeers…and lots of hot chocolate!
